'Onder Het Roze Licht' is a short film about Johanna, a young woman who struggles with her sexual orientation. Johanna lives with her mother in a strict reformed village. Father died before Johanna was born, which strengthened Mother's support and conviction in her faith. Mother is very religious and also raises Johanna that way. Every Sunday they go to church together.

Mother runs a quiet but almost authoritarian regime at home. It is clear that she needs few words to get her stern message across to Johanna: she will do what Mother says, or else. There is an undertone of constant threat in Johanna and Mother's home.

On Friday and Saturday nights, Johanna sneaks out of the house. Behind an old shed, she has a second bike, which she uses to travel miles to get to the city. Once there, she goes out into the nightlife. She finds her place in a queer club, where she sets her sights on another girl. At the end of her nights, she has to manage to get back home unnoticed and slip back into her normal life.

Johanna develops an increasingly serious relationship with the girl in the club, who now also starts asking to meet during the day and at other locations. In the meantime, she notices interest in her neighbor Pieter, which Mother is enthusiastic about: Johanna will first have to get married in order to be able to leave home and start a family. At the same time, there is talk in the church about how bad homosexual relationships are. Johanna becomes more tired, sleeps worse and experiences more and more stress. When Johanna returns late one morning, Mother is waiting for her; she has seen through Johanna.

What do we offer?
As a group of students, we do not have the budget to provide you with an (expense) allowance. We do offer a chance to work with an enthusiastic and young group of filmmakers and there is more than enough coffee, tea and goodies on set!

We are looking for extras who have black/grey/dark blue, sober, 'refo' clothing. Think of skirts and dresses to the knee or a suit.
