About me
My name is Daniel de Koning. I was born in South Africa, raised in eSwatini, and hold both South African and Dutch passports—so I’ve never felt tied to just one place, but instead embraced being part of a global community. I studied at Waterford Kamhlaba UWC and later at Colorado College, where I graduated in Film & Media Studies in 2023. My path has taken me through filmmaking, cinematography, and lighting design, but what connects all of it is a love for collaboration, creativity, and hands-on problem-solving.
Beyond film, I’m passionate about green spaces, animals, and meaningful projects that bring people together. I’m hardworking, adaptable, and happiest when I’m both learning and contributing—whether that’s designing a set, cooking for a team, or rolling up my sleeves for manual work. I’m excited to keep growing, connect with others, and contribute to projects that make a difference.
