Machiel van Hoek (b. 1998)
Documentary filmmaker and film editor, based in Breda, The Netherlands. Graduated from St. Joost School of Art & Design.
With my documentaries, I give a voice to the ordinary. Amplifying the often overlooked narratives that shape our collective human experience. Through cooperation with my subjects, i explore the human never-ending search for meaning, within the context of a seemingly purposeless existence. I reflect on our society through themes such as social structures, identity, and mental health.
We all struggle with the same quest: It is not easy being human.
