Yuko

Amsterdam-based Japanese actress and performer. Since autumn 2023, I have worked in more than 100 film, television, commercial and audiovisual productions in the Netherlands. Recent work includes Nirit Peled's Green Clouds (NFF Fellowship 2026), the main role of Chung Sim in Eye Wall (Shortcutz Amsterdam 2025), and a KVK commercial with spoken Japanese dialogue.
Selected work
Eye Wall – Chung Sim, main role. A largely non-verbal performance with one spoken line, built through stillness, breath, facial expression, gaze and body language. Selected for Shortcutz Amsterdam 2025.
Green Clouds – ensemble cast in Nirit Peled's NFF Fellowship 2026 project, directed and produced by Nirit Peled, with Lisanne Kühne as executive producer / 1st AD. The scenes involved restrained reactions, exchanged glances, small gestures and collective movement. The project is presented at the Nederlands Film Festival as a lecture-performance and installation, with material from the shoot incorporated into the work.
KVK commercial – taxi driver with spoken Japanese dialogue. I also reviewed and refined the Japanese lines and supported pronunciation, timing and phrasing on set.
Metropolis Performance – one of ten performers in Buddy Film Foundation's site-specific performance during O. Festival Rotterdam 2026. The dialogue-free ensemble work used synchronized movement, rhythm and precise group timing around Rotterdam Centraal.
Additional screen work includes Bad Boa's (Netflix) – bank teller who becomes a hostage; Der Amsterdam-Krimi (ARD) – judge in courtroom scenes; and Flikken Rotterdam S8 – actress stand-in for a billiards scene requiring precise marks, physical action and continuity.
Before working in the Netherlands, I had more than 10 years of professional experience in Japan across stage, television, radio, live performance and music. My professional background also includes arranging, keyboard/piano, improvisation and music therapy.
Native Japanese speaker; working English; basic Dutch. I also have longstanding practical experience in Japanese tea culture and Japanese cultural work.
