About me
Digna Sinke was born in Zonnemaire (Zeeland) in 1949. After high school in Utrecht, she went to the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in Amsterdam. She graduated there in 1972 with the short film "Groeten uit Zonnemaire". Since then she has made a number of documentaries and feature films. Her film "De Stille Oceaan" was in the competition program in Berlin (1984). Her feature film "Belle van Zuylen" won the Grand Prix at the Mannheim festival in 1994. Her latest film is Weemoed & Wildernis, the last part of a long-term documentary project about the island of Tiengemeten. The film won the prize for best documentary at the FIFE in Paris (2010) and Neue Heimat festival (2011).
After the death of producer René Scholten (2001), Digna took over the film production company Studio Nieuwe Gronden (now: SNG Film), and she also works as a producer. Since then she has produced more than twenty films, including Winterstilte by Sonja Wyss (Forum Berlin, 2009) and De Engel van Doel by Tom Fassaert (Forum Berlin, 2011), Wavumba by Jeroen van Velzen (Tribeca, 2012).
