About me
Vincent Soekra (1967) has become an audiovisual omnivore. Already at the age of 9 he made children's radio under the guidance of the well-known actress Gerda Havertong.
As a student he was involved in the development of radio programs for peers.
With his work experience at various levels within the audiovisual media, he has specialized in preparing, writing and executing film and television projects and events.
During his training at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy (class '95) he made two productions, which have passed the test of international criticism. These productions: 'Another Symphony in Black - A modern Rhapsody of Negro Life' and 'Lekker Loopje - a homage to Kid Dynamite' have been screened at various film festivals.
Over the years he shifts his focus by also producing and directing large-scale entertainment projects and stage events.
In his work, Soekra tries to intertwine fictional and non-fictional elements in a characteristic way.
Due to his versatility and his organizational talent, Vincent Soekra is able to set up large-scale projects. Successful projects of the past period are the music documentary projects: “IKO – King of Kaseko†and ‘Doble-R Musica Antiano†in collaboration with NPS / NTR and AVRO and the ‘Keti Koti Festivals, annually since 2009 on July 1 in Amsterdam in connection with the commemoration and celebration of the abolition of slavery in 1863.
