I spent the last four years studying media and its different stages, from inception to reception, culminating in obtaining a master’s degree in Media Studies, with a specialization in film, at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. During my studies, I learned media’s material history, how it produces art, and how it impacts the world around it. Afterall, media does not exist in a vacuum; it influences our conception of reality and how we organize ourselves in society. It is simultaneously shaped by us and informs our own identities as well. As a result, when creating such content, one must take into consideration the world around oneself, the creative forces producing art and the economic forces enabling it. Furthermore, I am able to dissect any piece of audio-visual content and explain how every piece affects the whole and influences the viewer. I have a fundamental knowledge of what constitutes media and how to shape it to get a specific meaning.
My ability as a multilingualist, able to fluently speak English, French, German, and Luxembourgish, paired with my expertise in Media obtained through my studies, would qualify me as a contributor to Stokvis. Furthermore, I possess experience in writing, shooting, and editing various media content. In both my native country of Luxembourg and Amsterdam, I collaborated with amateurs and professionals in the creation of music videos, documentaries, and short films. These past experiences have taught me how to communicate simultaneously in different languages, quick problem-solving skills, rudimentary technical skills concerning lighting or audio machines, and organizational abilities.
