My name is Renée van Zadelhoff (1997), filmmaker and production assistant. Since 2021, I have been working as a production assistant for various Dutch and Belgian film and documentary productions via Clin d'Oeil Films and Tangerine Tree, where I provide both substantive and technical assistance. I love managing and organizing tasks, and that is what attracts me to film production.

In 2022 I wrote and directed the short film Aching Hearts, which was honored by the NL Film Fund and premiered at the Dutch Film Festival. This film received the Best Cinematography Award at LGBTQ+ Toronto Film Festival in 2023.

My interest lies in the layers of female characters and the effect of the world in which they exist. Interweaving themes of contemporary, classical and pop culture that features queerness is what interests me in storytelling. My focus as a filmmaker is to dramatically understand complicated, but above all human characters and the feelings they go through.
