My name is Rik van Zijl, I am 20 years old and I am a (self-proclaimed) die-hard film nerd. Ever since I was little I have been obsessed with films and what started as a way to pass the time, quickly turned into a passion that I now spend all my time on!
So film is my passion, that's clear. But why? How images can tell a whole story and how audiovisual means like films can make an impression on someone's emotions is something I've always been interested in. Maybe because film makes an impression on my own emotions... Of course I'm also fascinated by why certain shots are shot in a certain way. Sometimes I get in my own way with my passion by analyzing a film and its symbolism and different framing choices until 3 in the morning.
From this passion the choice arose to study film and audiovisual media. I am now in my 3rd year and have already been able to gain quite a bit of experience in the audiovisual field. In this study I have been able to develop myself into someone new, someone who did not dare much before but now does. From there I finally took the step to create a YouTube channel on which I have currently placed 2 videos (link at website).
