I worked as an assistant art director on a music video for Deriff Productions. I aided the art director to conceptualise a visual story from the music, using prop sheets and storyboards. I also did physical jobs, such as making props, painting for scenes and dressing the set. From the time I spent filming these two videos, I have learnt how to think on my feet under pressure, while remaining patient with others.
My interest in democratizing current events has brought me to hosting a podcast that discusses the global news in a form that is approachable and entertaining. It is part of the student-run broadcasting platform, Slim Radio, formerly UvA Radio.
I recently worked as a coordinator for broadcasting the student elections at the UvA, also done through Slim Radio. I utilised my research skills to uncover what the pressing matters are for students in Amsterdam and applied it to the debate structure.
Additionally, I helped to create short videos of the candidates for our marketing campaign. This meant working with the candidates to create punchy, approachable manifestos to entice students to vote.
I am currently undertaking a 'TV Practices' module at university. I and three other members are creating a television programme called: 'Zoom n' Chill' . The premise of the show is a dating show for students, in a time when the typical right of passage of first love is being squandered by the pandemic. I have been learning how to use filming equipment and improving my editing skills through this module.
