Hi!
I'm glad that you are reading my profile - welcome! I am a soon-to-be postgraduate of cultural studies, and I have affinity with film, film festivals, and all the creative and productive input that goes into making that magic happen! I am very enthusiastic in learning directly from the industry, and I am looking for internships and entry-level positions to find out what happens behind the screens.
I am currently volunteering for the Imagine Film Festival at EYE Amsterdam as film attendant, guest supervisor, and at the information desk, and I think it is a great first experience. Nevertheless, I am very keen in engaging with making a festival happen, from an idea to the result - that includes research, planning, liaising with stakeholders, ordering films, managing the venue and staff, and so on - and so I would like to take my next step into what happens before the festival is "ready".
I bit about my different skills - I am fluent in English, and an intermediate in Dutch (it is a working process with the aim of becoming proficient); I am familiar with academic research and -writing which I believe will prove to be beneficial; I am familiar with a slice of film theory and a lot of critical cultural theory, which is beneficial for creative and critical thinking; I am a good communicator; I have previously managed teams up to 20 people in hospitality, and worked on numerous team-projects within the academia which has given me good team-leading skills, an eye to detail, and a "hands on" attitude. Additionally, throughout my employment during the last year I have been communicating with customers and colleagues in Dutch, which in combination with a B2-C1 language course I intend to undergo in the summer of 2019 will raise my proficiency from my current B1 to higher, enabling me to use Dutch as a professional working language.
Thank you for reading my profile!
With best,
Sandra Paulus
