Born in Denmark, raised in the Algarve and England and living in the Netherlands since 1994. His career in the Dutch film industry gave him the opportunity to experience many facets of filmmaking: he has worked as a crew member in camera, light, grip, production, art department, special effects and first assistant. After more than ten years of gaining experience on all kinds of sets, Kristjan decided to direct. Supplemented by workshops such as the Rutger Hauer Film Factory, Kristjan is completely self-taught. To learn by practise. By making films, learning from them and then making more films. To date, he has made short films, commercials, corporates, music videos and a full-length documentary. In 2014, his first cinema film was released with the title The Right Juice. This English-language comedy was independently financed and produced and was released in the cinema in the country of production, Portugal. He made his second feature film, Second Honeymoon, in 2015 and in 2017 he made the medium-length film Exposure. He has made several short films that have played at festivals around the world. For example, Quiet Area, a special psychological horror, was screened at The Atlanta Film Festival, San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy FF and the Bahamas International Film Festival, among others. Patch, the film starring Karen Spanjer, has found distribution through Shorts TV and has been screened at the LA Shorts Fest and the Madrid International Film Festival, among others. The film has also been awarded with many nominations and awards.
