My name is Ziyang.

For as long as I can remember, I have always been enchanted by films. I long to go somewhere else as soon as the lights dim, and with every film I always hope to have that experience. I am an illustrator and writer myself, and of course I have a strong affinity for film. As someone with an eye for art, my love for films changed; into a love for the art of cinema as I grew older. What has always fascinated me is not only the vision that filmmakers have, but also the ability to put their imagination and creativity on the big screen, so that the audience can admire their creations. And even more so, to let the audience experience a wide range of emotions. For me, that is an incredibly uplifting experience; the ability to see what is going on in the mind of an artist, a maker, a creator; it is like magic.

And that's the magic I want to share with the audience; the magic of film.

Moviegoers want the same experience and magic that I want. Some call it escapism, and that can be a fair term. But for me it’s not that vulgar. A good film is like a balm. It can soothe, enchant, seduce, inspire, heal, and so on. That’s what I want when I go to the films; it’s that feeling, that moment, that experience. That’s what I want to give filmgoers.
