Nicole van Damme directed “De School” (Submarine/ BNN); the first Dutch documentary series in which 40 suspended cameras registered the lives of teachers and students of HAVO 4 of the Jan Arentsz School Community in Alkmaar for 8 weeks.

Nicole van Damme graduated from the Netherlands Film and Television Academy in 1996, specializing in documentary.

In 1985, as a seventeen-year-old tour manager for various British punk bands, she traveled through (Eastern) Europe, and also worked for the independent record label In Tape in Manchester.

Between 1984 and 1997 she made radio programs: documentaries, music and youth programs for KRO, NCRV, RVU and BBC Radio. Thus she made SEA FEVER at the age of twenty-four; a triptych about the life of the sailor based on poems by Slauerhoff, for which she sailed from Germany to Honduras and back to Antwerp for 5 weeks with 23 sailors.
Between 1986 and 1995 Van Damme worked as a photographer. In addition to free work (photo collective Flitzwicht), she did commissioned photography, such as brochures and press photography for companies, individuals and broadcasters.
She has been making television programs since 1991, gaining a great deal of experience in making process films. For the series HET INTERNAAT (8 x 30 min/CCCP TV/AVRO) she filmed well-to-do expat children of Boarding School de Vliethoeve in Zeeland for a year. The triptych BETWEEN PARENTS AND CHILDREN (150 min/TV-DITS/NCRV Dokument) was about several parents who have lost control over their upbringing and are under the supervision of youth care. In TOTDAT I AM BEROMED (100 min/South Wind Film Productions/Pupkin/NCRV'S Dokument) we saw the development of underprivileged young people who tried to become famous as rapper, soap star and musical star. In the series VÈT VMBO! ( 3 X 40 min / TV Dits / RVU) the teachers and students of four VMBO classes in Haarlem were followed for a year.
