Writer and producer of documentary 'Orphan Syndrome'. (Orphan child syndrome) Uzhhorod, Ukraine. In 2006 the documentary was nominated as one of five best amateur documentaries by the Dutch documentary channel Holland Doc. Synopsis: In 2005 Ukraine counted 144,000 parentless children. 120,000 lived on the street and 24,000 in an orphanage. It's hard to believe that only a small part of these parentless children is an orphan. Every year thousands of children are given away because their parents can't take care of them. Only a small percentage ends up in an orphanage. The documentary “Orphan Child Syndrome” addresses this problem. A 19-year-old girl called Snezhana, who has spent most of her young life in orphanages, tells us her life story. She talks about the orphanage, her fears, hopes and dreams. And the most important thing: what she will do different in life now that she has become a mother.
