Dutch born Johan van der Voet (36) is a composer whose musical talents steadily drive him towards a career in film scoring. Following his classical studies at the Conservatorium followed by music technology at the Utrecht School of the Arts (where he graduated in 1998 with a major in “Composition for Media†and “Music Production†), he worked as a composer, record producer , teacher and DJ while playing guitar with many pop/rock bands and released several records. After eight years of “paying dues†and learning the ropes-all the while composing effective scores for silent movies and multimedia productions he moved to London in 2006 to pursue a career as film score composer. Armed with practical experience in orchestrating, an academic degree, original music for student films, a love of movies, and a sophisticated knowledge of world music, Johan rapidly proves himself a versatile, imaginative, and dependent film composer. Working in his London studio, surrounded by dozens of instruments and sound design props, he recently finished the score for the feature film “Clocking Paper†by American director Korhan Gurocak.
