Marco Lopes (1985) is a theater maker, comedian and actor in training at the Koningstheateracademie.
Marco started acting at the age of 16. Since 2002 he has played several roles under the direction of Lucienne van Amelsfort as part of the youth theater group Were' Back. After this instructive period as a young actor, it is time for the real work. Since 2008, Marco has played several roles in the plays of theater group Drang. In 2011 he auditions at the Koningstheateracademie and is accepted. A highlight follows in 2013: under the direction of Gijs de Lange, he plays in To Be Or Not To Be by the Zuidelijk Toneel.
As an actor, Marco pushes the boundaries in his playing. As a player he can come across as sympathetic (and reliable) but also dangerous (and unreliable). Marco switches without you noticing from the ‘insensitive screaming stand-upper’ to an actor with depth and different layers. He plays with a lot of energy but also looks for the right nuances in his game.
He also looks for the possibilities of physical play. Marco improvises easily and can therefore surprise his opponent well, which ensures fun but also beautiful moments. He likes to take on the challenge of playing his role as well as possible by doing a lot of research in advance. Only when he knows enough about his role does he take to the floor.
