Tobias Asser (NL, 1990) is a highly talented dutch photographer who enregisters his own life. Although he finished the photo academy (Fotoacademie, Amsterdam) only one year ago he already has developed a style of his own which could be described as raw and sensitive at the same time. He experiments with all kind of (hand made) cameras and technics without being interested in any form of perfection.
With his soulful eye his works remind lonely wolves in contemporary photography like Gerard Petrus Fieret (NL, 1924-2009) and Miroslav Tichy (CZE, 1926-2011), but also photographers of a younger generation like André van Noord (NL, 1964 ) and Mike Brodie (USA, 1985).
In 2013 Tobias Asser has held a solo show at Pakhuis De Zwijger and another at Lokatie Laurier, both in Amsterdam.
