After my return to the Netherlands I continued filmmaking. In February 2010, the shooting of my second full-length documentary started: a portrait of a dissident baker who lives up to his political convictions by baking honest bread.

I am also putting together an exhibition in which Palestinian artists give their opinions on creative expression under Israeli occupation. I was also asked by a media institution to make a vodcast for their art section, which offers new perspectives on the multicultural society.

My most recent work is amateur footage from my time in Ramallah (West Bank) edited into a short experimental clip. At the same time I am directing a video report about the BDS Campaign (Boycott Divestment Sanctions for Palestine) for a journalistic website, highlighting the Nakba (the Palestinian catastrophe, or expulsion of 1948).

I am currently setting up an independent AV company, with which I will continue to work as a freelancer with various film assignments, mainly vodcasts, educational films and short documentaries.

specifics
Given my affinity with the Middle East, human rights, multicultural diversity, collective memory and subcultures within international and Dutch society, these are subjects that I focus on.

The nuance of these themes from a social perspective and the emphasis on identity characterize my style. At the same time I am involved in projects that highlight art, cooking, politics and music.

After studying cultural anthropology in the US, I moved to Amsterdam, where I worked as a chef for many years. At the same time I was working as a production assistant for filmmakers and at arthouse cinemas, film festivals and editors of local broadcasters. I then directed reports on international development cooperation at an audiovisual foundation, doing interviews and editing.

In 2005 I made a long journey through Palestine, where I mainly had journalistic assignments as a columnist and as an interpreter. There the inspiration was developed for my first full-length documentary, currently in pre-production. It chronicles exile and its consequences, highlighted by a diaspora Palestinian woman who goes back to her roots and is afterwards banned from visiting her country.
