Thomas Kuijpers' is a visual artist, who's work is situated around the broad theme of 'truth'. He's interested in the way truth is constructed and he is searching for moments where something that isn't considered to be true, can change and become truth - or vice versa. By trying to reveal these constructs, Kuijpers is constantly questioning the value of the concept of truth on different topics.

Kuijpers' methodology involves a strong practice of research and the gathering of archival materials. In some cases these materials find their way into the works and become part of the work itself. Kuijpers uses all sorts of found material to show how different voices try to claim the truth on a specific topic: sound fragments, video footage, official documents and newspaper clippings. Kuijpers places these materials in a comprehensive context so the viewer can compare all these voices and get an insight in the way the ‘truth’ on a topic is constructed.

Some voices might be a bit louder than others, but that's no reason to think one is more truthful then the other. Kuijpers makes us understand that there is no actual truth, only a lot of different voices claiming it.
