I am currently working with an enthusiastic group of young people on a great Dutch series Pakkies!!

The Pakkies series takes you into the world of today's young people who have to deal with difficult themes at their age. Themes such as unwanted pregnancy, relationships, difficult home situations, money problems, work, bad friends and crime. Pakkies shows a fictional image of how young people deal with this and how they make right and wrong choices in life.

The story takes place around two main characters in the series, Carlos and Carla. They are both in their early twenties and are therefore in an important time and face difficult choices that will affect the rest of their lives. The series will be set in Rotterdam and will span a period of approximately 3-4 months in 8 episodes of 30 minutes each or 4 episodes of one hour.

Carla is a young lady who is studying psychology and works a lot of hours in her father's pizzeria. She is surrounded by two of her best friends Maria and Lorena, with whom she enjoys hanging out. In the first scene of the series it immediately becomes clear that, to her horror, Carla has become pregnant by Carlos. Throughout the series she tries to hide this because it brings a sense of shame and fear. She makes several attempts to share this with her boyfriend Carlos, but he seems unapproachable and absent to her, which makes her seem to be alone, even though the people around her are very willing to offer compassion and support.

Carlos is a young man in his twenties who is also going through a difficult time in his life. He lives with his younger brother at his mother's house without a father and they are not very well off. His mother is ill and he feels compelled to contribute to the household chores at home, even though he doesn't know how. In that respect, like most men, he is a lot less mature than Carla. He also works in the pizzeria for Carla's father, but is influenced by his bad friends throughout the series. His friends do have money and they don't earn it by delivering pizzas. His friends put pressure on him and in the end the temptation is too great not to join in with his friends. When Carlos enters this world it is too late and everything goes wrong.
