about me
In my life and work I combine the conceptual and analytical ability of the researcher with the inspiring, creative power of the filmmaker. I enjoy living in the middle of Amsterdam. I know the issues of metropolitan life from my own experience and on a theoretical level. My roots are in the Betuwe and I am connected to farm life and the issues in the countryside. At the moment I am working on the PhD research 'Moving landscape' about the historical agricultural information films from the Reconstruction period, the time of Minister Mansholt. The research takes place at the Institute for Culture and History of the University of Amsterdam in close collaboration with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum and the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands in Amersfoort.

In addition to being a researcher, I am a filmmaker and creator of visual stories about the past, present and future of city and country at the intersections of spatial development, culture and society. My oeuvre includes documentaries and audiovisual projects about the meaning of cultural heritage, urban development and the future of the rural area. With my films and interactive productions commissioned by public broadcasters, governments and cultural institutions, I try to touch the viewer in mind and heart with unexpected perspectives, beautiful intriguing stories and appealing images.

1. ‘Discovery trips …’ full of inspiration from Brazil for the future urban development of the Netherlands. Two parts realized: Curitiba the sustainable city and São Paulo the metropolis. Ministry of VROM The Hague ea / AT5 Amsterdam (2000-03) Third prize Film and video competition 2004 International Federation for Housing and Planning. 2.‘Aanbouw’ the long-term informative series on current topics in the architecture and urban development of the city of Amsterdam (initiator and involved in more than 40 episodes at the time). Municipal Services RO and Housing and AT5 Amsterdam (1994-2002) Honorable mention Film- video competition 2000 International Federation for Housing and Planning.
