about me
Manuel Rodrigues' background is cinematic. He studied graphic design for interactive applications at the Media College as well as Visual Effects and Interactive Media at the Film Academy. During his studies at the Film Academy, Manuel Rodrigues worked as a lighting technician and began to delve into lighting music. During this period he fell in love with the creative process of translating music into visual language. He is a visual instrumentalist.
His vocabulary consists of rhythm, cadence, dynamics, atmosphere, movement, time and space. And it is precisely within these rudimentary units that Manuel seeks relations between the auditory and visual world. His working method can be compared to that of a choreographer. He treats and manipulates elements from the visual world like dancers. In this way he creates a new medium / story in which image and sound are inextricably linked.
In addition to his cinematographic background, Manuel's technical background is also highly developed. He works with both light and video design. He has done extensive research into lighting and video control and is a pioneer in synchronizing visual information to music. He tours the world with various bands, such as Mason, HardSoul, De Jeugd van Dezeen and Sabrina Starke. In addition, he knows how to apply his research into synchronous lighting and video control.
The sync systems that Manuel develops give the artist musical freedom. As a result, unlike other sync solutions, they are no longer tied to a linear musical narration, but have much more freedom, comparable to Ableton, for example.

Manuel Rodrigues has a cinematic background. He studied graphic design for interactive applications at the Media College, as well as Visual Effects and Interactive Media at the Netherlands Film Academy. During his studies at the Film Academy, Manuel worked as a light technician and started delving into the world of music lighting. This is when he fell in love with the creative process of translating music into visual language. He is a visual instrumentalist.
His vocabulary consists of rythmics, cadence, dynamics, atmosphere, movement, time and space. Within precisely these rudimentary elements, Manuel seeks out connections between the auditory and visual world. He goes to work like a choreographer. Visual elements are treated and manipulated like dancers, creating a new medium/narrative in which images and sound are inextricably connected.
Besides his cinematographic background, Manuel's technical background is also well developed. He has done extensive research into lighting and video control, and is a pioneer in synchronizing visual data and music. He has toured across the globe with bands such as Mason, HardSoul, De Jeugd van Dezeen and Sabrina Starke, his research into synchronic lighting and video control being a valuable asset.
The sync systems developed by Manuel provide artists with musical freedom. As opposed to other systems, they are not limited to a linear musical narrative, but are given far more freedom, as with Ableton for example.
