In de woorden van de schrijver/documentairemaker: "My parents got divorced when I was 11 years old. Because of this divorce, the relationship with my father disappeared and over the years we lost almost all contact. In this documentary I want to try if we are able to restore our bond. The red thread is a letter correspondence with my father throughout the documentary and a face-to-face meeting with my father in at the end of the documentary. I will involve experts to educate me and the audience on the topic of parental alienation. Because this is such a sensitive topic, it is needed for the participants to feel as comfortable as possible while talking in front of a camera. Therefore, this documentary will be in Dutch as this is the first language of all contributors. There will be English subtitles provided. The documentary will be a performative mode, capturing the involvement of the filmmaker (me) with the subject (my dad) and using our relationship, rather the lack of it, as a jump-off point to explore a larger subject: the painful process of reconnection."
