I was honoured to be able to meet and work together with Douglas Trumbull, legendary filmmaker and visual effects pioneer known as a special effects supervisor for 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, etc. He also directed movies Silent Running and Brainstorm. Trumbull is developing a new cinema standard. He introduced an advance stereoscopic 3D and digital high frame rate (120 Frames Per Second) projectors and cameras. As a result of that, film screenings are almost indistinguishable from reality. Together with Martin Grootenboer I was invited to meet Trumbull at his home and studio in the Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts. We had a long lasting conversation and Trumbull gave us a lot of useful technical advices and a mind-blowing presentation of his new stereoscopic 120FPS movie at his private cinema. Tungsten studio, later on developed captivating 360º show for the Discovery Museum in Kerkrade.
