synopsis The documentary film 'The American fraud' explores the influence of the United States in Honduras and how America has exploited and taken advantage of this country. Using its reputation as a place of death and criminal violence, the United States has, for a long time, been able to use this reputation as a cover to hide their own criminal activities within the country. The multitude of problems resulting from US influence, including gang violence, the drug trade, political instability and corruption, and huge poverty and unemployment, has led to hundreds of thousands of Central Americans fleeing their homes and heading to the United States. Even though roughly 60% of them are eligible for some kind of humanitarian aid, the United States has been refusing them entry despite the fact that they caused so many of the problems these people are running from. The American Fraud aims to show the terrible effects of US influence in Honduras and its consequences.
