Casting Call – Short film (actors & extras)

Casting Call – Short film (actors & extras)

(auto-translated from Dutch)

At the end of the hallway leading to the restrooms in a nightclub sits a restroom attendant. In line, a young woman is waiting for her supervisor in a last desperate attempt to get a promotion within her dead-end office job. After yet another rejection, she is confronted with the emptiness of her future and commits suicide. The restroom attendant witnesses it all.

The story is told from the perspective of the restroom attendant; she recognizes a part of herself in the ambitious young woman but simultaneously witnesses the inequality of society. The film is inspired by the work of David Lynch. It is mildly experimental and explores themes such as class differences and how impossible it seems to bridge the gap between rich and poor. The entire film takes place in the restrooms of a nightclub, where the world feels alienating and slightly dysfunctional. Consequently, the restroom attendant is literally fused with the toilets and sees and feels everything that happens.

Strong facial expressions and subtle acting; carries the perspective of the film.
Ability to make inner struggle and suppressed emotions palpable without much dialogue

Poor girl

Very expressive and physical acting; emotions lie close to the surface
Can convincingly portray exhaustion, frustration, and obsessive ambition

Rich girl
Female, playing age ± 20–30 years
