For the HKU graduation film 'De Hofnar', we are still looking for two roles. The short film will be a satire about satire in a fictional, humorous medieval setting. A film about freedom of expression and opinion.
Logline: A beloved court jester, who has always been able to openly say what he wanted, must now, having been thrown into prison by the new king for a joke that went wrong, suddenly choose between a life of censorship or death.

What do we offer?
Because this is a graduation film, no salary is available. Naturally, expenses will be reimbursed and catering will be provided! The locations have not yet been finalized. We hope to have more clarity on this as soon as possible.

Description
Tompie: Tompie is a cheerful guy and, above all, the #1 fan of Court Jester Claas. When the court jester performs, he stands at the front of the line cheering. He is a real softie, but sometimes catches things a bit later than the rest.

In the film, Tompie is a very important character. He serves as both a comedic element and the moral compass. When he is betrayed by his idol and made a fool of, he exposes the contrast between jokes being made about the king (directed upwards) and when, by order of the king, certain villagers are made a fool of.

For this role, we are not looking for a specific age, but primarily someone with a cheerful and comedic demeanor.

The Executioner: The executioner is a silent and menacing extra. He says little, but his presence is meant to immediately evoke tension. He moves calmly, with control and purpose. At first, he is primarily someone others fear, but later it becomes clear that he is not callous and is also one of the people.
His assignment is to execute someone AND FOLLOW ORDERS, but eventually he rises up together with the people.
