When an arrogant frat boy is forced to move to a farm, he discovers that his status is worthless there and slowly loses his grip on who he is outside his own world.

Absurdist comedy

Synopsis:
Laurence is a senior student who has carefully constructed his identity within a system of status, drinks, and social hierarchy. He knows exactly how to enter, when to smile, and who gets him a beer. It always works. Until suddenly, it doesn't work anymore.

When he has to temporarily leave his room due to renovations, he assumes without a doubt that it will be arranged within 24 hours. A hotel, a connection, something through word of mouth. But for the first time in his life, nothing happens…

Through a freshman (who clearly doesn't yet know how to exist in this world), he ends up on a farm just outside the city. Laurence sees it as a temporary solution to a misunderstanding.

The farmer sees it as extra hands. Maybe a bit of company too. But above all: work.

From that moment on, something starts to go wrong in Laurence's system.

He tries to position himself properly (“just checking who’s in charge here”), refuses work that he considers “below his level”, and waits for the moment someone says that this is all a joke. That moment never comes.

The farmer doesn't really react to anything. Not to status, not to sarcasm, not to subtle power games. Only to things like: “Can you just straighten that post?”

Meanwhile, Laurence's old life is slowly slipping away. His name is still mentioned at drinks, but increasingly often in the third person. His girlfriend no longer wants to be associated with him, and his friends turn out to be doing surprisingly well without him.

On the farm, his frustration escalates primarily internally. He tries increasingly to gain control over situations that are simply non-negotiable. Until one day, he sees the farmer drinking a beer.

In a moment of pure desperation and misplaced self-confidence, Laurence decides that this is the arena where he can still win something. He challenges the farmer to an ADT match. After all, if you have no influence anywhere else, surely you do here.

For Laurence, this is a decisive moment; his value depends on it.

For the farmer, this is nothing more than a beer at the end of a busy workday.

Laurence wins.

The farmer then calmly opens another beer and continues drinking as if nothing happened.
What feels like an important moment of confirmation to Laurence turns out to have no value whatsoever here.

What remains is the question: what is left of you when the world around you no longer affirms who you are?
