"Big Kids Are Kids Too" is about a large family where everything is always happening. When a new neighbor moves into their street, Puck and Mirre get the feeling something's not right. Their father, Cas, isn't convinced either, but their mother, Mea, sees no problem.
Meanwhile, at school and at home, all sorts of growing up happen: falling in love, fighting, feeling misunderstood, and discovering secrets about their parents. When their father gets into serious trouble, the children have to learn what it means to stand up for each other—even if adults sometimes don't get it.
This is a film about family, trust, and how hard growing up can be, even for big people.

Dex:
Fourteen-year-old Dex is a skater like his brother, but he has another passion: football. Although his older brother and sisters are already well into puberty, he's still relatively calm. Mea and Cas are giving him more and more freedom, which he's perfectly happy with.

Elena:
Elena is the horse girl of the family and is 12 years old, but she's also a real girly girl. She's sweet and likes to wear dresses, which she wouldn't mind swapping for riding breeches. Like the rest of her family, she enjoys being outdoors, but only with her friends.

Nathan:
Nathan is all about football, a passion he shares with his father. He's 11 years old and very smart for his age. He always has an answer for everything, much to the annoyance of the rest of the family. Yet, he plays outside a lot with Elena and Pepijn, who sometimes find it quite amusing that their brother is the way he is.

Pippin:
Ten-year-old Pepijn also enjoys playing soccer, if only because he gets to play with his brother Nathan. Pepijn is also the dreamer of the family and therefore seems a bit shy. He comes up with the games they play together and enjoys watching Mea work on her concepts.

Justin:
Justin is Scott's best friend and is 15 years old. He's a gentle boy, but he appreciates a joke every now and then. Like his friends, he's a skater and can almost always be found at the rink. Although he doesn't yet know what he wants to be when he grows up, he knows he won't be an actor. He struggles with drama class and would rather skip it.

Zafer:
Zafer (16) is new at school but immediately connects with Puck, Scott, Justin, and Emma. Unlike his new friends, he only uses his skateboard for transportation and doesn't do stunts. A whole new world opens up for him when he first steps onto the skate park.

Suus:
Suus has been Elena's best friend since kindergarten. They do almost everything together and are both 12 years old. They're in the same horseback riding class and take dance lessons together. Suus lives just a few houses down, so they often play outside after school, making up stories, or inventing dances.

Young Cas:
When Cas was young (19), he played soccer a lot with friends, secretly dreaming of being discovered. But then he met Mea and fell head over heels for her. Together, new dreams emerged, which ultimately led to them having eight children.

Young Mea:
Mea is 17 when she meets the perhaps somewhat reckless Cas. She's a sweet and somewhat naive girl who enjoys reading, dancing, and taking long walks. Cas challenges her, and she slows him down when he goes too fast, but behind all those wonderful new memories lies a frightening past.

Van Dijk and Meijer:
Officers Van Dijk and Meijer are a powerful team investigating a series of abuses of underage girls. When they receive an anonymous tip, they track down Cas. Although Mea swears Cas would never harm anyone, the officers become obsessed with their suspects. Age for officer auditions: Minimum 18 years.
