CASTING CALL – Short Fashion Film “Do Not Disturb” (Student Project)

'Do Not Disturb' is a short fashion film exploring the intertwined themes of power, desire, vulnerability, and the strange, private performances that unfold behind closed doors.

We are a group of five students from the Fashion & Visual Culture minor at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, and we are currently seeking three talented actors to bring our characters to life!

About the Film

The story is told entirely without dialogue. Instead, meaning is conveyed through atmosphere, movement, visual tension, and the subtle emotional distance between two people who are entangled in more ways than one.
Our goal is to create a scene the viewer feels they were never meant to witness—a moment that slowly brings forward the central question of our film: How much power do we have over what we desire?

Casting Requirements
- 3 actors
- Experience with non-verbal/physical performance is a plus
- It is not required but preferred if actors have worked together before or are already comfortable with each other, due to the intimate dynamic between characters

The film will include sensitive or intimate themes and mild nudity.
We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone involved. Intimacy guidelines and consent-based rehearsal processes will be fully implemented. Your comfort is our priority.

What do we offer?
As this is a student project, we are totally reliant on crowdfunding for our budget. Our aim is to raise enough money so that every collaborator can recieve fair compensation, however this is totally dependent on how much is raised and therefore we cannot make any promises at this time.

This being said, our result will be of a high standard for your portfolio and a great experience - who knows where this could lead! :)

Description
The role of VIVIENNE

Vivienne has an alter ego in the form of dominatrix 'Lady V', which she plays out in her regular sessions with Mike, her submissive.

Traits: controlled, enigmatic, emotionally layered, expressive through movement


The role of MIKE

Mike, with the high pressure of his daily life, finds pleasure in his submissive role. Yet over time, as the two develop their bdsm relationship, he sets up an encounter to show Vivienne the power that his submission holds. There is no dominance without submission and vice versa.

Traits: introspective, manipulative, carries internal tension.

The role of 'THE MANNEQUIN'

Although referred to as 'the Mannequin', this character is not an object but a masked male extra who represents the neutrality within Mike and Vivienne's relationship. We do not see their features, yet they are a strong presence and the lens through which the viewer can understand and judge the events taking place.

Traits: still, mysterious, minimalistic in movement, an anchoring presence in the scene.
