The series follows a recently married thoracic surgeon (Amanda) and a sergeant (Kyle). Emily, Amanda's sister, is pregnant. She's jealous of Amanda's new stability and tries to undermine it by causing her to relapse. She succeeds. Amanda goes completely crazy when Emily pushes her to raise her child as soon as he's born. This causes her to have flashbacks to her miscarriage nine years ago. Things go completely wrong when Amanda overdoses on Valium during surgery. Kyle and Valerie (chief of thoracic surgery and her best friend) try to help her, but whether they succeed...
