Monkey Mind is Drama/Social Satire about a family that tries to reconnect though "Monkey Therapy" Directed and Written by Tijmen Snoep. The film is produced by Anna Messechkova & Mia Tseboeva. We are a team of filmmakers based in Rotterdam. Half of our crew are Graduates and the other students at the Willem de Kooning Academy and we intend to send this project to film festivals!

The Story
'Monkey Mind' follows a dysfunctional family in a wild garden house as they undergo 'monkey therapy' led by controlling father Marcus. As Marcus pushes his family into embracing animalistic instincts, deep-seated tensions rise. What starts as an absurd attempt to reconnect turns into a confrontation of power dynamics, forcing Marcus to face his vulnerabilities and the destructive consequences of his authoritarian control.

The maker
As a new director in Rotterdam, Monkey Mind is my third short film, continuing my exploration of power, control, and the destructive nature of authoritarianism. Monkey Mind is my response to the rise of populism and the 'strong man' persona. Through Marcus, I want to highlight the inherent destructiveness of this kind of behavior. In my work I blend absurdism and realism, reflecting contemporary political issues with a focus on provoking conversation.

Why?
Throughout my life, I've dealt with men whose inflated egos and need for control suffocate the people around them. Often driven by deep securities, they poison relationships and restrain any type of growth.
'Monkey Mind' is a cinematic exploration of this behavior, a mirror held up to the destructive nature of unchecked egos. 'Monkey therapy'– within a dysfunctional family, exposes the tearing grip of toxic behavior on one's environment. Inevitably causing destruction.

Direction
The 'Monkey State' within 'Monkey Mind' draws from elements of Method Acting, but it also goes beyond it. It needs a more physical transformation, embodying the ape-like mindset and movement. Through a specially crafted 'Monkey Training', lots of rehearsals, and focus on creating a safe environment on set, the actor is encouraged to improvise through their 'Monkey Self'.

We are seeking a skilled Boom Operator to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for capturing high-quality sound while coordinating with the sound, camera, and lighting departments.

Job requirements / profile
Key Responsibilities:
Operate boom poles and microphones to capture clear dialogue and minimize noise.
Troubleshoot on-set sound issues and adjust for environmental noise.

Requirements:
Proficiency in operating boom poles, shotgun mics, and lavaliers.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail to follow actor movements and adjust mic placement.
Experience in sound recording; previous on-set experience preferred.
Knowledge of set etiquette and the ability to adapt quickly.
