We are working on a final film for our second year at the HKU. We are making an absurdist short drama film. Our film is set in a world where parents can genetically modify babies to their liking. However, Mae and Adriaan suddenly have to deal with the uncertainty as to whether this has worked out well for their future baby... A doctor may not have made the right modifications to their baby.

The film is about expectation management and projecting one's own insecurities onto children. We want to create an uncomfortable feeling in the game for the viewers. We want to do this by making the interactions between the characters different from how things work in our world. The characters behave more sullen and colder towards each other than you and I are used to in our own world.

What do we offer?
Unfortunately, because it is a student production, we cannot reimburse you. Of course we do have travel expenses and catering on set! Of course there is also a nice atmosphere on set, with a very grateful crew and you have a nice new acting experience/experiment in our absurd world!

HUGO: An actor between 40-60 years old who wants to play Doctor Hugo. Hugo works at a clinic where babies are genetically modified. He has seen the program at work for years, but now no longer agrees with it. Yet he continued to work at the clinic: he secretly stopped making genetic modifications and left the composition of the babies to nature and the genes of the parents. He is a gruff and down-to-earth guy, with a strong moral compass.
